Leidseplein

I’ve chosen the famous Leidseplein in Amsterdam for the Public Space Assignment. We visited this public space at one of the first sunny days of the year. The square was pretty crowded and most of the terraces were full.

This public space is one of the most famous places of entertainment in Amsterdam. Places like Paradiso, de Melkweg, de Balie and the city theater are all located at the Leidseplein.

The thing I didn’t like about the Leidseplein is the fact that there are constantly trams crossing the square. It breaks the square in two different spaces. The traffic makes the square feel loud and hasty, but then again, that’s almost an inevitable component of a city square.
